Tour Overview

Challenge yourself with a trek through the majestic Atlas Mountains. Starting from Batna, you'll traverse the Aurès Mountains, ascending through ancient cedar forests to reach peaks of up to 3,500m, visiting traditional Berber villages, and exploring remote valleys in the heart of the Atlas range.

Itinerary

Day 1

Mountain Welcome - Begin your journey at Batna Mountain Lodge with comprehensive equipment preparation. Take an acclimatization walk to 1,500m and participate in a mountain safety workshop. The day ends with a traditional Chaoui dinner with your mountain guides.

Day 2

Forest Trek - Journey through ancient cedar forests while learning about local flora and geology. Gradually ascend to your first mountain hut at 2,200m, where you'll learn basic mountaineering skills essential for the journey ahead.

Day 3

High Altitude - Challenge yourself with a practice climb to 2,500m while learning crucial altitude management techniques. Visit local shepherd camps and learn about mountain weather patterns that will guide your ascent.

Day 4

The Big Pass - Tackle the challenging high mountain pass at 2,800m and traverse a dramatic ridgeline. Experience lunch in an alpine meadow before descending to a peaceful valley camp under the stars.

Day 5

Mountain Culture - Trek to a remote Berber village for a traditional welcome ceremony and cultural exchange. Learn about mountain crafts before ascending to high camp at 3,000m in preparation for the summit attempt.

Day 6

Summit Day - Begin your pre-dawn summit attempt, tackling technical climbing sections on your way to the peak at 3,500m. Celebrate your achievement at the summit before descending to camp for an evening of photo sharing and stories.

Day 7

Descent - Explore a new valley route during your descent, visiting an ancient mountain shrine along the way. Enjoy lunch by a mountain stream before experiencing a traditional hammam to rejuvenate tired muscles.

Day 8

Cultural Finale - Visit a local craft cooperative to discover traditional mountain crafts. Enjoy a performance of traditional music before receiving your trek certificate at a farewell celebration.
